And the sides!
This little 16-ish foot rig came from the manufacturer with those swirly decals on the sides and back. I’ve yet to figure out why they put those things on every single RV ever, so my first job was to remove them (but that’s another story because it was a huge pain in the ass).
Some might call it quirky, others—well, others might call it ridiculous. I had a few moments of doubt. But in the end, I figured, if people can display gnomes in their gardens or stand metal roosters on the porch, why shouldn’t I have a cat clinging to the back of my trailer? I mean, if we’re going to be absurd, why not lean in? It’s all a statement. Mine just happens to involve a cat and a light bulb.
The light bulb represented simple truth—uncomplicated, bright, and often underappreciated. Simplicity is an act of courage. And the cat? Well, cats are survivors. They cling, they endure, and they come back for more, again and again. It’s why we say they have nine lives—because they refuse to give up, even when the odds say otherwise.
The real motivation of this whole decal situation? It gave people a reason to talk to me. I’m not exactly the type to stroll up to strangers and strike up a conversation but slap a clinging cat on the back of a trailer, and voilà! instant conversation starter. People loved it. And as I watched them smile, chuckle, or shake their heads, I knew I’d made the right call.
